Opportunities for Youth

As young people progress through their teenage years and adolescence, they are bombarded internally and from the culture around them with many conflicting values, temptations, and unanswered questions. It is a time of many decisions. Our youth programs strive to provide biblical guidance and loving Christian support through mature Christian adults who are willing to serve as role models.

Several major projects each year include presenting a Christmas play in December, planning the Easter Sunrise service, and participating in the annual CROP Walk for World Hunger in the Fall. The group also attends the Gatlinburg Getaway Youth Missions Conference in February and the "Fun in the Son" Youth Conference on Jekyll Island, Georgia, in the summer.

Every other year members of the Youth Group travel to Yucatan, Mexico or Jamaica on ten-day work trips sponsored by Son Servants. The groups work on the construction of a seminary, Deaf Village housing, churches, and homes as well as participated in a outreach to children in local churches.

More than 100 youth have earned Eagle awards and the troop has attended the National Jamboree. An annual highlight is a 30-mile hike to Camp John J.
