Opportunities for Children
Children are important at First Presbyterian. It is our
goal to help children feel at home and accepted in church and to help them mature into
responsible Christian disciples.

PromiseLand
This is a whole new way of teaching children about
the Bible. Rather than having individual classrooms, students move with their age
group from one "workshop" to another each week. The workshops include
stories & games, drama, arts & crafts, computers, and audio-visual. During
each rotation of workshops they children study the same story, so that by the end of
three or four
weeks they have examined the same story from several different viewpoints and
through several different learning styles. This new model, called the Workshop
Rotation Model, reinforces Biblical literacy and keeps Sunday School exciting and current
for the children. PromiseLand meets every Sunday morning, 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. on the third
floor of the Education Building, and is for all children, age four through
fifth grade.
Visit our PromiseLand page for more details, photos, and a
description of the current rotation.

Sunday School
Traditional Sunday School classes are available
for children up through three years old. The 2s & 3s class uses
Bible-centered curriculum. The Nursery and 2s & 3s Classes are located on the second
floor of the Education Building.

Sunday Morning Worship
A Nursery is available on the second floor of the
education building for children 0-2 years old during the worship service.
The Nursery is staffed by a paid Nursery Worker assisted by volunteers from
the church. We strive to
include the other children in some aspect of the worship service each week:
Children's Messages are presented by
the pastor or lay person on most Sundays. The children are invited to come to the front of
the church at that time.
On the fourth Sunday, the children are invited to assist
in taking up the 5 Cents-A-Meal Offering, our monthly hunger offering.
Children in fourth grade and up are invited to be
Acolytes.
Periodically between September and May the
Kidz Khoir sings during the worship service.

This exciting midweek ministry for children in grades K-6 meets on Wednesdays, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The Children engage in adventures with God, through Bible Study (with Bible awards), Scripture Memory,
Skits, Skill Awards, Music and Games. Click here

Children's Saturday Outings
Periodically on Saturdays a special outing or outreach
activity is planned for the children. These activities are designed for children between
four years old and fifth grade. Activities in previous years included visiting homebound
members with cookies and valentines, going on a picnic to Dan Nicholas Park, having a Fall
Party out in the country, and visiting The Lazy 5 Ranch. Watch the bulletin or contact the
church office for details.
